Eligibility:
- The Tomlinson Doctoral Fellowships are intended for prospective doctoral students who will be starting their program at McGill University in the Fall of 2023.
- Individuals who are currently enrolled at McGill or have completed their latest degree or are in progress at McGill are not eligible. However, former McGill students who have completed a graduate degree elsewhere may apply.
- Visiting students who are completing the requirements for a degree from another university at McGill are also eligible to apply.
To be considered, applicants must have a first class academic record, defined by McGill as a minimum GPA of 3.7 (or 3.5 in Law) in each of the last two years of full-time study at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
How to apply:
To apply for the Tomlinson Doctoral Fellowships, candidates must submit their application package to the academic unit they plan to join. There may be an internal deadline that is earlier than the GPS deadline, and applicants are advised to contact their department for details on the submission process.
The application package should include the following:
- The completed Application Form;
- Two letters of reference from external referees, addressing the applicant’s academic and research achievements and potential. Referees must send their letters directly to the academic unit;
- A statement from the proposed supervisor that describes how the applicant’s research project fits with the supervisor’s research program, the funding sources available for the program, and the resources that will be accessible to the applicant (such as equipment, space, facilities, and necessary expertise);
- Official transcripts or certified copies of all university-level studies, including graduate and undergraduate degrees.
