Ingredients

For the Stir-Fry:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (optional, if beef is lean)
  • 3 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

For the Sauce:

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (low-sodium preferred)
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar (optional, for sweetness)
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

For Garnish:

    • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
    • 2 green onions, sliced

Instructions

  • Prepare the Ingredients:
    • Wash and chop broccoli into bite-sized florets.
    • Dice the onion and mince the garlic.
    • In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, cornstarch, water, brown sugar, and red pepper flakes.
  • Cook the Ground Beef:
    • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat.
    • Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it into crumbles with a spatula. Drain excess grease if necessary.
    • Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
  • Sauté the Vegetables:
    • In the same skillet, add olive oil if needed.
    • Sauté onion and garlic until fragrant, about 2 minutes.
    • Add broccoli florets and stir-fry for 4-5 minutes, or until they are crisp-tender.
  • Combine and Cook:
    • Return the cooked ground beef to the skillet with the broccoli.
    • Pour the sauce over the mixture and stir to coat evenly.
    • Cook for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken.
  • Garnish and Serve:
    • Remove from heat and garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.
    • Serve hot over steamed rice, noodles, or enjoy on its own.

Notes

  • Using Frozen Broccoli: Thaw and drain frozen broccoli before using to avoid excess water in the dish.
  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
