Description

This Savory Sesame Beef Noodle Stir-Fry is a bold and flavorful dish packed with tender beef, crisp vegetables, and chewy noodles, all tossed in a rich, umami-packed sauce. With a perfect balance of sweet, savory, and spicy notes, this quick and easy stir-fry is a restaurant-quality meal that you can make in under 30 minutes!

Ingredients

For the Stir-Fry:

  • 8 oz (225g) rice noodles (or lo mein/udon noodles)
  • 1 lb (450g) beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 3 tbsp vegetable oil, divided
  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups (120g) broccoli florets
  • 3 green onions, sliced (plus extra for garnish)
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated

For the Sticky Sauce:

  • 1/4 cup (60ml) soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 2 tbsp honey or brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar (or lime juice)
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

Instructions

  • Cook the rice noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  • In a bowl, toss the thinly sliced beef with cornstarch until evenly coated.
  • Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the beef and cook for 2-3 minutes per side until browned and crispy. Remove from the pan and set aside.
  • In the same pan, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of oil. Stir-fry the red bell pepper, broccoli, and green onions for 3-4 minutes until slightly tender but still crisp.
  • Stir in the minced garlic and grated ginger, cooking for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together all the ingredients for the sticky sauce. Pour the sauce into the pan, stirring well to coat the vegetables.
  • Return the cooked beef to the skillet, add the drained noodles, and toss everything together until fully coated in the sauce. Cook for 1-2 more minutes.
  • Remove from heat, garnish with extra green onions, and serve hot.

Notes

    • To make it gluten-free, use gluten-free soy sauce or tamari.
    • For extra spice, add more red pepper flakes or drizzle with sriracha.
    • Swap the beef for chicken, shrimp, or tofu for a different variation.
    • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
