Description

This creamy, savory homestyle beef and noodles dish is the perfect comfort food for busy weeknights or cozy weekends. Tender ground beef is cooked in a rich, flavorful sauce and tossed with soft egg noodles for a hearty, satisfying meal the whole family will love. Quick to make and incredibly delicious, this one-pan wonder is sure to become a staple in your home!

Ingredients

  • 6 oz egg noodles
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • ¼ cup butter
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1¼ cups milk
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup sour cream

Instructions

  • Cook the Noodles

    • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the egg noodles and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  • Brown the Beef

    • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef until browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess grease and set aside.
  • Make the Roux

    • In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for about 2 minutes, stirring constantly, until lightly golden.
  • Create the Sauce

    • Slowly whisk in the beef broth and milk, ensuring there are no lumps. Add garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt. Bring to a simmer, stirring frequently, until the sauce thickens (about 3-5 minutes).
  • Combine Everything

    • Add the cooked ground beef back into the sauce and mix well. Let simmer for another 2 minutes.
  • Finish with Sour Cream

    • Remove from heat and stir in the sour cream until smooth and well combined.
  • Toss & Serve

    • Add the cooked egg noodles to the skillet and toss until evenly coated in the creamy beef sauce. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

    • For a richer sauce, use half-and-half instead of milk.
    • Want extra flavor? Add a splash of Worcestershire sauce or a pinch of smoked paprika.
    • For a lighter version, swap ground beef for ground turkey and use low-fat milk.
    • Leftovers? Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat on the stovetop with a splash of milk or broth to maintain creaminess.
    • Make it gluten-free by using gluten-free pasta and cornstarch instead of flour for thickening.
