Description

This Cheesy One-Pot Beef & Pasta Skillet is the perfect quick and comforting meal, loaded with savory ground beef, tender pasta, and a rich, creamy cheese sauce. Made in just one pan, this dish comes together in under 30 minutes, making it a weeknight dinner favorite for the whole family. With bold flavors, simple ingredients, and minimal cleanup, this recipe is a must-try for pasta lovers!

Ingredients

  • Lean ground beef (1 pound) or ground turkey
  • Yellow onion (1 large), diced
  • Garlic clove (1), minced
  • All-purpose flour (2 tablespoons)
  • Low-sodium beef broth (2 cups) or chicken broth
  • Tomato sauce (1 can, 8 oz)
  • Italian seasoning (1 teaspoon)
  • Seasoned salt (1 teaspoon)
  • Smoked paprika (½ teaspoon)
  • Garlic powder (½ teaspoon)
  • Small pasta shells (8 oz) or small elbow pasta
  • Heavy cream (½ cup) or half-and-half
  • Shredded cheddar cheese (2 cups)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  • Brown the Meat & Aromatics: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef (or turkey) until browned. Drain any excess fat. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, cooking until fragrant.
  • Build the Sauce: Sprinkle in the flour and stir well. Pour in the beef broth and tomato sauce, then mix in Italian seasoning, seasoned salt, smoked paprika, and garlic powder.
  • Cook the Pasta: Stir in the uncooked pasta, ensuring it’s submerged in the liquid. Cover and simmer for 12-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is tender.
  • Make It Creamy & Cheesy: Reduce the heat to low, stir in the heavy cream, then gradually mix in the shredded cheddar cheese until fully melted and smooth.
  • Season & Serve: Adjust with salt and pepper to taste. Let the dish rest for 5 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.

Notes

    • For extra richness, use half cheddar and half mozzarella.
    • Swap ground beef for ground turkey or Italian sausage for a different flavor.
    • Use whole wheat pasta or gluten-free pasta for a healthier alternative.
    • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days and reheat with a splash of broth or milk.
    • Add crushed red pepper flakes or hot sauce for a spicier version.
