Description

Tender Salisbury Steak with Garlic Mushroom Gravy is a delicious and comforting dish featuring juicy beef patties smothered in a rich mushroom and garlic gravy.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
  2. Shape the mixture into 4 oval patties, about 1/2 inch thick.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, until browned and cooked through. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add the sliced mushrooms and cook for about 5 minutes until they are softened. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  5. Pour in the beef broth and soy sauce, stirring to combine. Bring to a simmer.
  6. In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch and water to create a slurry. Slowly add this to the skillet, stirring constantly until the gravy thickens, about 2-3 minutes.
  7. Return the patties to the skillet, spoon the gravy over them, and let them simmer for an additional 2 minutes.
  8. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley.

Notes

  • For a healthier option, substitute half of the ground beef with ground turkey or chicken.
  • Add a splash of red wine to the gravy for an extra depth of flavor.
