Description

This Crockpot BBQ Chicken is the easiest way to get tender, juicy, and flavorful shredded chicken with minimal effort! Slow-cooked in a rich, smoky barbecue sauce, this dish is perfect for sandwiches, tacos, rice bowls, or even as a topping for baked potatoes. Just toss everything in the crockpot, set it, and forget it—dinner is ready with no stress!

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce (your favorite brand)
  • ¼ cup apple cider vinegar
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  • Prepare the Chicken: Place the chicken breasts in the crockpot.

  • Make the Sauce: In a bowl, whisk together barbecue sauce, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.

  • Cook: Pour the sauce over the chicken, making sure each piece is well coated. Cover and cook on low for 6-7 hours or high for 3-4 hours until the chicken is tender and easily shreds with a fork.

  • Shred and Mix: Remove the chicken from the crockpot, shred it with two forks, then return it to the sauce. Stir well to coat the shredded chicken in the barbecue sauce.

  • Serve: Enjoy on sandwiches, tacos, rice bowls, or with a side of coleslaw and cornbread!

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper or a few dashes of hot sauce.
  • Use chicken thighs instead of breasts for an even juicier texture.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 3 months
  • Great for meal prep—make a big batch and use it throughout the week in different dishes.
