Description

This Brown Sugar Soy Sauce Salmon is a perfect balance of sweet and savory flavors with a caramelized glaze that makes every bite irresistible. Quick and easy, this dish is ready in under 20 minutes, making it perfect for busy weeknights or special dinners!

Ingredients

  • 4 salmon fillets (about 6 oz each)
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch + 1 tablespoon water (for thickening, optional)
  • Sesame seeds and green onions for garnish

Instructions

    • Prepare the marinade by whisking together the soy sauce, brown sugar, olive oil, garlic, ginger, lemon juice, black pepper, and red pepper flakes in a bowl.

    • Marinate the salmon by placing the fillets in the mixture for at least 10 minutes (or up to 30 minutes for deeper flavor).

    • Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add a little olive oil.

    • Sear the salmon for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.

    • Thicken the glaze (optional): Remove the salmon, add the cornstarch mixed with water to the pan, and stir until the sauce thickens.

    • Drizzle the glaze over the salmon and garnish with sesame seeds and green onions.

    • Serve immediately with rice, vegetables, or noodles.

Notes

  • Swap the sweetener: Use honey or maple syrup instead of brown sugar for a different sweetness.
  • Make it spicy: Add extra red pepper flakes or a drizzle of sriracha for heat.
  • Best sides: Pair with steamed rice, roasted vegetables, or a fresh salad.
  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
