Description

Sweet, sticky, and bursting with bold BBQ flavor — these caramelized BBQ chicken thighs are oven-roasted to perfection! With tender meat and a beautifully glazed crust, this easy recipe is perfect for busy weeknights or casual gatherings. The ultimate comfort food with a smoky twist!

Ingredients

  • 6 boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce (your favorite brand or homemade)
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar (optional, for extra caramelization)
  • Fresh parsley or green onions for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

  • Pat the chicken thighs dry with paper towels.

  • Place the thighs in a large bowl and drizzle with olive oil.

  • Sprinkle with garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Toss to coat evenly.

  • Arrange the chicken on a foil-lined baking dish or sheet pan.

  • Bake uncovered for 20 minutes.

  • Remove from the oven and brush generously with barbecue sauce. Sprinkle with brown sugar for an extra sticky glaze, if using.

  • Return to the oven and bake for another 10–15 minutes, until the sauce is caramelized and chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).

  • Broil for 2–3 minutes at the end for extra char, if desired.

  • Rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with parsley or green onions.

Notes

  • Use a silicone brush for an even BBQ glaze.
  • Line your pan with foil for easy cleanup.
  • Great with coleslaw, baked beans, or cornbread.
  • Adjust sweetness by adding or omitting brown sugar.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.
