Creamy, savory, and topped with crispy fried onions, this Green Bean Casserole is a classic comfort food side dish that brings warmth to every table. Whether it’s a holiday feast or a cozy weeknight dinner, this easy-to-make casserole is loaded with tender green beans, a rich mushroom sauce, and that irresistible golden topping. It’s nostalgic, delicious, and always a crowd favorite!

Ingredients

  • 1 can (10.5 ounces) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 cups cooked green beans (fresh, canned, or frozen and thawed)
  • 1 1/3 cups crispy fried onions, divided

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  • In a large mixing bowl, stir together the cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, and black pepper until well combined.

  • Add the green beans and 2/3 cup of the crispy fried onions. Gently mix everything together.

  • Pour the mixture into a 9×9-inch (or similar-sized) baking dish and spread it out evenly.

  • Bake uncovered for 25 minutes.

  • Remove the casserole from the oven, sprinkle the remaining crispy onions on top, and return to the oven.

  • Bake for another 5–10 minutes, or until the onions are golden and crispy.

  • Serve warm and enjoy the creamy, crunchy goodness!

Notes

  • Fresh green beans should be trimmed and blanched until just tender before using.
  • For extra flavor, sauté fresh mushrooms and garlic to add to the mixture.
  • To make it vegetarian, ensure the soup you use is meat-free.
  • This dish can be assembled up to a day in advance—just hold off on the final onion topping until baking.
