Description

 This cozy, layered beef and noodle casserole is full of bold flavor with ground beef, tomatoes, sour cream, and gooey cheese. A retro comfort food classic!

 


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (14 oz) can diced tomatoes
  • 1 (6 oz) can tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 8 oz egg noodles, cooked and drained
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Fresh parsley, optional

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

  • In a skillet, brown beef with onion and garlic. Drain excess fat.

  • Add tomatoes, tomato paste, seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer 5 minutes.

  • In a 9×13 baking dish, layer half the noodles, all the sour cream, half the meat sauce, then repeat.

  • Top with cheeses and bake 25–30 minutes until bubbly.

  • Rest 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Great make-ahead meal—assemble and refrigerate, then bake when ready.
  • Substitute Greek yogurt for sour cream for a lighter twist.
