Description

Let your slow cooker do the work—these short ribs are rich, savory, and incredibly tender after hours of low and slow cooking.


Ingredients

  • 3 lb bone-in beef short ribs
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup red wine
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 sprigs thyme
  • 1 bay leaf

Instructions

  • Season short ribs and sear in a hot pan until browned. Transfer to slow cooker.

  • Add onion, garlic, broth, wine, tomato paste, Worcestershire, soy sauce, thyme, and bay leaf.

  • Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until ribs are fork-tender.

  • Remove ribs and strain sauce. Skim off fat and serve with reduced sauce.

Notes

  • For thicker sauce, simmer strained liquid on the stove.
  • Pairs well with creamy mashed potatoes or roasted vegetables.
