Description
A delicious and hearty toasted Italian sandwich filled with layers of salami, ham, provolone cheese, and roasted red peppers, all enhanced with pesto sauce.
Ingredients
- 8 slices of Italian bread
- 8 ounces of sliced salami
- 8 ounces of sliced ham
- 8 ounces of sliced provolone cheese
- 1 cup of roasted red peppers, drained and sliced
- 1/4 cup of pesto sauce
- 1/4 cup of olive oil
- 1 teaspoon of Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
- Spread pesto sauce on one side of each slice of Italian bread.
- On the non-pesto side of 4 slices, layer salami, ham, provolone cheese, and roasted red peppers.
- Season with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
- Top with the remaining slices of bread, pesto side down, to form sandwiches.
- Brush the outside of each sandwich with olive oil.
- Place the sandwiches in the skillet or griddle. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- Remove from heat, slice in half, and serve warm.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add sliced jalapeños or pepperoncini to the sandwich.
- Substitute turkey or chicken for the salami and ham for a lighter option.
