Description

A festive and delicious dessert featuring layers of vanilla pudding, pound cake, fresh berries, and whipped cream, perfect for patriotic celebrations.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups vanilla pudding mix
  • 4 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pound pound cake, cut into cubes
  • 2 cups strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 2 cups blueberries
  • 2 cups whipped cream (store-bought or homemade)
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the vanilla pudding mix, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Refrigerate for about 15 minutes to thicken.
  2. In a large trifle dish or a glass bowl, layer half of the pound cake cubes at the bottom.
  3. Spoon half of the prepared vanilla pudding over the pound cake layer.
  4. Add a layer of half of the sliced strawberries and half of the blueberries on top of the pudding.
  5. Spread half of the whipped cream over the berry layer.
  6. Repeat the layers with the remaining pound cake, pudding, strawberries, blueberries, and whipped cream.
  7. Finish with a dollop of whipped cream on top and garnish with fresh mint leaves if desired.
  8. Chill the trifle in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour before serving to allow the flavors to meld.

Notes

  • For a chocolate twist, substitute chocolate pudding for vanilla pudding.
  • You can also add a layer of chocolate shavings or mini chocolate chips between the layers for extra flavor.
  • For a lighter version, use angel food cake instead of pound cake and sugar-free pudding mix.
