Description

A festive and colorful snack perfect for patriotic celebrations, made with popcorn, chocolate, and candy melts.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups popped popcorn (about 1/2 cup unpopped kernels)
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup blue candy melts
  • 1/2 cup red candy melts
  • 1/4 cup sprinkles (red, white, and blue)
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt

Instructions

  1. Start by popping the popcorn according to package instructions. Place the popped popcorn in a large mixing bowl and set aside.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the white chocolate chips in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth. Drizzle the melted white chocolate over the popcorn and gently toss to coat.
  3. In separate microwave-safe bowls, melt the blue and red candy melts in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
  4. Drizzle the melted blue candy melts over the popcorn, followed by the red candy melts. Use a spatula to gently mix the popcorn until it’s evenly coated with the colors.
  5. Sprinkle the sea salt and the red, white, and blue sprinkles over the popcorn. Toss lightly to distribute.
  6. Spread the popcorn mixture onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Allow it to cool and harden for about 30 minutes.
  7. Once set, break the popcorn into clusters and serve in bowls or bags.

Notes

  • For a healthier version, use dark chocolate instead of white chocolate and reduce the amount of candy melts.
  • Add nuts or dried fruit for extra texture and flavor. Consider using almonds or dried cranberries for a festive touch.
