Description
A festive and colorful snack perfect for patriotic celebrations, made with popcorn, chocolate, and candy melts.
Ingredients
- 3 cups popped popcorn (about 1/2 cup unpopped kernels)
- 1 cup white chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup blue candy melts
- 1/2 cup red candy melts
- 1/4 cup sprinkles (red, white, and blue)
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
Instructions
- Start by popping the popcorn according to package instructions. Place the popped popcorn in a large mixing bowl and set aside.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the white chocolate chips in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth. Drizzle the melted white chocolate over the popcorn and gently toss to coat.
- In separate microwave-safe bowls, melt the blue and red candy melts in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
- Drizzle the melted blue candy melts over the popcorn, followed by the red candy melts. Use a spatula to gently mix the popcorn until it’s evenly coated with the colors.
- Sprinkle the sea salt and the red, white, and blue sprinkles over the popcorn. Toss lightly to distribute.
- Spread the popcorn mixture onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Allow it to cool and harden for about 30 minutes.
- Once set, break the popcorn into clusters and serve in bowls or bags.
Notes
- For a healthier version, use dark chocolate instead of white chocolate and reduce the amount of candy melts.
- Add nuts or dried fruit for extra texture and flavor. Consider using almonds or dried cranberries for a festive touch.
