Description
A delicious and creamy orange buttercream frosting perfect for cakes and cupcakes.
Ingredients
- 2 cups unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup fresh orange juice
- 1 tablespoon orange zest
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter with an electric mixer on medium speed until creamy, about 2 minutes.
- Gradually add the powdered sugar, mixing on low speed until combined.
- Pour in the fresh orange juice, orange zest, vanilla extract, and salt. Beat on medium speed until the frosting is smooth and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
- If the frosting is too thick, add a little more orange juice, one teaspoon at a time, until you reach the desired consistency. If it’s too thin, add more powdered sugar until thickened.
- Use immediately to frost your favorite cakes or cupcakes, or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week. If refrigerated, let it come to room temperature and re-whip before using.
Notes
- For a more intense orange flavor, increase the amount of orange zest to 2 tablespoons.
- Add a few drops of orange food coloring for a vibrant look, or mix in a teaspoon of almond extract for a unique twist.
