Description
A simple and delicious recipe for crispy pan-fried tilapia that is perfect for any meal.
Ingredients
- 1 pound tilapia fillets
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko)
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil (for frying)
- Lemon wedges (for serving)
Instructions
- Rinse the tilapia fillets under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt, black pepper, and paprika.
- Set up a breading station: Place the flour in one shallow dish, beat the eggs in a second shallow dish, and place the breadcrumbs in a third shallow dish.
- Dredge each tilapia fillet in flour, shaking off any excess. Dip it into the beaten eggs, allowing any excess to drip off, and then coat it in breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
- In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully add the breaded tilapia fillets to the skillet.
- Cook the fillets for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from the skillet and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Serve the crispy tilapia hot with lemon wedges on the side for squeezing over the fish.
Notes
- For added flavor, mix some grated Parmesan cheese into the breadcrumbs before coating the fish.
- Try using different seasonings, such as garlic powder or Italian herbs, to customize the taste of the tilapia.
