Description
Bacon Bourbon Meatball Subs are a delicious and hearty sandwich made with flavorful meatballs infused with bourbon and topped with marinara sauce and melted mozzarella cheese.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 pound ground pork
- 1/2 cup cooked bacon, chopped
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 1 large egg
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup bourbon
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 4 hoagie rolls
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, chopped bacon, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, egg, garlic, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Form the mixture into meatballs, about 1.5 inches in diameter, and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until cooked through and browned.
- While the meatballs are baking, heat the marinara sauce in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in the bourbon and let it simmer for about 5 minutes.
- Once the meatballs are done, add them to the saucepan with the marinara sauce and gently coat them.
- Slice the hoagie rolls lengthwise, but not all the way through. Place the rolls on a baking sheet.
- Spoon the meatball and sauce mixture into each hoagie roll, then top with shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Bake the assembled subs in the oven for an additional 5-10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, and serve warm.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add a teaspoon of crushed red pepper flakes to the meatball mixture for a spicy kick.
- Try using different types of cheese, such as provolone or cheddar, for a unique twist on the classic meatball sub.
