Cheddar Cheese Bites are delicious, cheesy snacks that are easy to make and perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 cup cold water
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream together the softened butter and shredded cheddar cheese until well blended.
- Add the garlic powder and onion powder to the cheese mixture.
- Gradually mix in the flour mixture until combined.
- Add cold water, one tablespoon at a time, until the dough comes together. It should be slightly sticky but manageable.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of the dough and roll them into balls.
- Place them on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until the bites are golden brown.
- Allow them to cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper to the dough.
- You can also substitute half of the cheddar cheese with crumbled feta or blue cheese for a different flavor profile.
