The university offers scholarships to students who want to pursue their undergraduate and graduate studies. With a 240-degree program, applicants have a variety of choices and can choose the field of study they fit in.

Aside from the need-based scholarships, the University of Michigan also awards some meritbased scholarship:

The Gloria Wille Bell and Carlos R. Bell Scholarship Program:

  • It is a renewable scholarship for four years, offered to the first-year student with an outstanding academic record, who is the residence of an eligible area, and pursuing an undergraduate degree in science in the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts or in the College of Engineering.
  • The annual renewal of this scholarship depends on satisfactory academic progress.
  • The value of the scholarship varies: $20,000 per year for non-resident students, $10,000 per year for resident students.

The Sidney J. And Irene Shipman Scholarship:

  • This scholarship is dedicated to the incoming University of Michigan’s students with excellent academic talent, leadership skills, and talent in art and science.
  • Residents’ students who receive the full shipman scholarship are awarded $20,000 for four years, while students that come from other states are awarded $30,000 per year.

The Penelope W. And E. Roe Stamps award:

  • This scholarship is awarded to students that demonstrate exceptional skills, leadership qualities, academic achievement, and a commitment to their community.
  • Stamps Scholars receive a renewable scholarship for four years of undergraduate study and the value to the scholarship can go up to the full cost of attendance.

Additional Merit Scholarships:

  • The College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (LSA) award about 40 additional merit-based scholarships to qualified first LSA students. To be considered for these awards, applicants must complete the four-Year Renewable Scholarship application by the deadline.

GENERAL ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

Requirements for Freshmen:

  • An international student that has a valid visa
  • GPA of 3.0 (4.0 scale)
  • SAT Cumulative score of 1020 or higher (ACT composite score of 20)
  • Full-time degree-seeking enrollment at University of Michigan-Dearborn
  • Renewable with a GPA of 3.0 at UM-Dearborn
  • Proficiency in English score of IELTS (6.5), TOEFL (IBT-80, CBT-213, PBT-550), or MELAB (76).

Requirements for Transfers

  • An international student that has a valid visa
  • GPA of 3.5 (4.0 scale)
  • Full-time degree-seeking enrollment at University of Michigan-Dearborn
  • Renewable with a GPA of 3.0 at UM-Dearborn
  • Proficiency in English score of IELTS (6.5), TOEFL (IBT-80, CBT-213, PBT-550), or MELAB (76).
