Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Cook the Ground Beef: In a large pot over medium-high heat, add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned and no longer pink, about 5–7 minutes.
  2. Sauté Vegetables: Using the same pot, heat a tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add diced green bell pepper and chopped onion, stirring occasionally for about 5 minutes until tender and the onion is translucent.
  3. Combine Ingredients: Return browned beef to the pot and pour in the drained baked beans, Worcestershire sauce, yellow mustard, brown sugar, and optional hot sauce. Mix well and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Cook on Stovetop: Reduce heat to low, cover the pot, and let simmer for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Oven Method Option: Transfer mixture to Dutch oven, preheat oven to 350°F (175°C), cover, and bake for 30–40 minutes, or until heated and bubbly.
  6. Slow Cooker Method: Combine ground beef mixture and all remaining ingredients in a crock pot. Cook on high for 1 hour or low for 2–3 hours, stirring occasionally.
