Ingredients

For the Stir-Fry:
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil optional, if beef is lean
  • 3 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 small onion diced
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
For the Sauce:
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce low-sodium preferred
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar optional, for sweetness
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional, for heat
For Garnish:
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 2 green onions sliced

Method

Prepare the Ingredients:
  1. Wash and chop broccoli into bite-sized florets.
  2. Dice the onion and mince the garlic.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, cornstarch, water, brown sugar, and red pepper flakes.
Cook the Ground Beef:
  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it into crumbles with a spatula. Drain excess grease if necessary.
  3. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
Sauté the Vegetables:
  1. In the same skillet, add olive oil if needed.
  2. Sauté onion and garlic until fragrant, about 2 minutes.
  3. Add broccoli florets and stir-fry for 4-5 minutes, or until they are crisp-tender.
Combine and Cook:
  1. Return the cooked ground beef to the skillet with the broccoli.
  2. Pour the sauce over the mixture and stir to coat evenly.
  3. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken.
Garnish and Serve:
  1. Remove from heat and garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.
  2. Serve hot over steamed rice, noodles, or enjoy on its own.

Notes

  • Using Frozen Broccoli: Thaw and drain frozen broccoli before using to avoid excess water in the dish.
  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Customizations: Add carrots, bell peppers, or snap peas for extra veggies and color.
