Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Blend pandan leaves thoroughly rinsed with enough water until smooth. Strain to extract pandan juice.
  2. Soak rinsed glutinous rice in pandan juice for 4 hours or overnight.
  3. Prepare steamer and fill a pot with water, ensuring it doesn't touch the bottom of the steamer basket.
  4. Steam soaked rice for about 40 minutes. Check for doneness after 20 minutes.
  5. In a saucepan, combine coconut milk, sugar, and salt over medium heat until sugar dissolves. Do not boil.
  6. Mix warm coconut sauce with steamed rice, let it sit for 10 minutes.
  7. Toast sesame seeds in a skillet until golden. Grind with sugar and salt for topping.
  8. Serve rice in a bowl, topped with sesame seed mixture and optional shredded coconut.
