Preparation
- Preheat a large skillet over medium heat for about 2-3 minutes.
- Add 1 pound of lean ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart as it cooks for about 4 minutes.
- Incorporate 1 diced onion and 2 minced garlic cloves, cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes.
- Sprinkle in 0.5 teaspoon of salt and 0.25 teaspoon of black pepper, then stir in 2 tablespoons of ketchup, 1 tablespoon of yellow mustard, and 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce. Allow to simmer for a couple of minutes.
- While the mixture cools slightly, butter one side of 8 slices of bread.
- Start assembling the sandwiches by laying 4 slices buttered-side down, adding a generous portion of the beef mixture, and topping with 2 slices of cheddar cheese. Finish with another slice of bread, buttered-side up.
- Heat a clean skillet over medium-low heat. Cook the assembled sandwiches for 3-4 minutes on one side until golden brown, pressing down gently with a spatula. Flip and cook the other side for another 3-4 minutes.
- Remove the sandwiches from the skillet and let them rest for 1 minute before slicing in half and serving hot.
