Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large mixing bowl, use an electric mixer to cream 1 cup of softened butter and 1 cup of confectioners’ sugar together on medium speed until light and fluffy.
  2. Add 4 teaspoons of juice from maraschino cherries and 3/4 teaspoon of almond flavoring to the creamed mixture. Mix well until these flavors blend.
  3. Gradually sift in 2 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour while mixing on low speed, then gently fold in 1/2 cup of finely chopped maraschino cherries.
  4. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls, place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet, and chill in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
  5. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the cookies for 10-12 minutes, then press a dark chocolate Hershey’s Kiss into the center of each warm cookie.
  6. Prepare the glaze by whisking together 1 cup of confectioners’ sugar, 1 tablespoon of water, and 1 teaspoon of almond flavoring.
  7. Drizzle the glaze over each cooled cookie and allow it to set for about 15 minutes before serving.
