Ingredients
  

  • 1 loaf French bread cubed
  • 8 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • Pinch of salt

Method
 

  1. Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk eggs, milk, cream, sugars, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. Add bread cubes and gently toss. Pour into dish and let soak for 30 minutes or overnight.
  4. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Bake for 45–50 minutes until golden and set.
  6. Dust with powdered sugar and serve with syrup.

Notes

  • Make ahead and chill overnight.
  • Use challah, sourdough, or even croissants.
  • Top with fruit or nuts for variety.
