Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil, add black penne, and cook for about 10 minutes or until al dente. Drain and rinse under cold water.
  2. Slice cherry tomatoes in half and slice carrots into thin rounds. Mix carrot colors for presentation.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together balsamic vinegar, olive oil, mustard, salt, and pepper until emulsified.
  4. In a large bowl, combine cooled pasta, halved tomatoes, and sliced carrots. Pour dressing over and toss gently.
  5. Gently incorporate mozzarella pearls and fresh basil. Serve immediately or chill for about an hour.
