Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Whisk together until well blended.

  3. Make a well in the center and pour in the warm milk. Mix gently until a sticky dough forms.
  4. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth. Allow to rest for 1 hour.
  5. Divide the dough into quarter-cup portions and shape each into a disc about ½ inch thick.
  6. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan to 350°F. Fry each disc for 2-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  7. Remove from the oil and place on paper towels to drain. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
