Ingredients
  

  • 1 block 14 ounces firm tofu, drained and pressed
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper optional for heat
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 2 green onions sliced (for garnish)
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Method
 

  1. Cut the pressed tofu into bite-sized cubes.
  2. In a large bowl, combine cornstarch, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper.
  3. Toss the tofu cubes in the cornstarch mixture until evenly coated.
  4. In a large skillet, heat about 1/4 inch of vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  5. Once the oil is hot, carefully add the coated tofu cubes in a single layer.
  6. Fry for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Using a slotted spoon, transfer the fried tofu to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
  8. Garnish the crispy tofu with sliced green onions and fresh cilantro before serving.
  9. Enjoy it as an appetizer or a side dish.
