- Melt 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter in a skillet over medium-low heat. Add the large sweet onions, stirring occasionally. Cook for about 30 minutes until the onions are golden and fragrant.
- In a bowl, combine mayonnaise, ketchup, yellow mustard, garlic powder, and ground black pepper. Mix until smooth and creamy, then set aside.
- Heat the cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat and add 2 tablespoons of butter. Once melted, add the sirloin steak burgers, cooking according to package instructions.
- Spread the tangy sauce on one side of each bread slice. Layer with caramelized onions, burger patties, and cheeses. Top with another slice of bread, sauce side down.
- Add 2 tablespoons of butter to the skillet over medium-low heat. Cook the assembled sandwiches for 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown and crisp.
- Remove the sandwiches from the skillet and let them rest for a moment. Slice in half, serve warm, and enjoy.
