Ingredients
Method
Prepare the Bread:
- Spread a thin layer of mayo on one side of each slice of bread. This will create a crispy, golden crust when grilled.
Assemble the Sandwich:
- Place a slice of cheese on the non-mayo side of one bread slice.
- Add a layer of turkey slices on top of the cheese.
- Spoon a generous amount of cranberries over the turkey.
- Place another slice of cheese on top, then close the sandwich with a second slice of bread, mayo side facing out.
Grill the Sandwich:
- Heat a skillet over low to medium heat and add a small pat of butter.
- Place the sandwich in the skillet and grill for 2–4 minutes per side, pressing gently with a spatula to ensure even cooking.
- Cook until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is fully melted.
Serve:
- Remove the sandwich from the skillet, let it cool for a minute, then slice it in half and serve warm.
Notes
- Bread Choice: Use sturdy bread like sourdough or whole grain to hold the fillings without falling apart.
- Cranberry Options: Both leftover cranberry sauce or freshly prepared cranberries work well for this recipe.
- Cheese Variety: Experiment with cheeses like Swiss for nuttiness, brie for creaminess, or cheddar for a sharp flavor.
- Storage: While best enjoyed fresh, leftover sandwiches can be reheated in a skillet for a crisp texture.
- Make It Vegetarian: Replace turkey with roasted vegetables like sweet potato or butternut squash for a veggie-friendly version.
