Baking Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large saucepan, combine sliced peaches, ½ cup granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Let macerate for about 5 minutes.
- Heat the mixture over medium heat until boiling, then simmer for about 10 minutes.
- Melt the butter in a 9x13-inch baking dish in the preheated oven.
- In a mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, baking powder, remaining ½ cup granulated sugar, and salt.
- Stir in milk and vanilla extract until a smooth batter forms.
- Pour the batter over the melted butter without stirring. Spoon the peach mixture over the batter.
- Sprinkle ground cinnamon and nutmeg over the top.
- Bake for 40–45 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let cool for about 10 minutes before serving.
- Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.
