  • Black Pepper: Freshly ground to taste

Method
 

1. Cook the Bacon:
  1. Place a skillet or griddle over medium-low heat. Lay the bacon strips on the skillet and press them with a bacon press or heavy object to keep them flat.
  2. Cook for about 5 minutes on one side, flip, and cook for another 3 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  3. Transfer the cooked bacon to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess grease.
2. Toast the Bread:
  1. Place the bread slices on the same skillet and toast them in the bacon fat over medium-low heat. Swirl occasionally for even browning.
  2. Toast one side, flip, and repeat until both sides are golden and crisp.
3. Assemble the Sandwich:
  1. Spread mayonnaise evenly over one side of each bread slice.
  2. Layer shredded lettuce on both slices of bread.
  3. Place the tomato slices on one slice, then sprinkle generously with coarse sea salt and freshly ground black pepper.
  4. Break the bacon slices in half and layer them over the tomato, alternating their orientation for stability.
4. Serve:
  1. Close the sandwich by placing the second bread slice on top.
  2. Slice diagonally and serve immediately for the freshest taste.
