In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, and baking powder.
Add the milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined—small lumps are okay.
Heat a nonstick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Lightly grease with butter or oil.
Pour about 1/3 cup of batter onto the skillet for each pancake. Cook until bubbles form on the surface and the edges appear set, about 2-3 minutes.
Flip the pancakes and cook for another 1-2 minutes until golden brown.
Remove from the skillet and serve warm with syrup, butter, or your favorite toppings.
