Step-by-Step Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 pound of lean ground beef, 1/2 cup of breadcrumbs, 2 tablespoons of ketchup, 1 teaspoon of mustard, and 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce. Add 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1 teaspoon of onion powder, and salt and pepper to taste. Mix well by hand until all ingredients are blended but do not overmix.
- Place a large skillet over medium heat and add 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Allow the oil to heat until shimmering.
- Shape the meat mixture into 4 equal patties, about 1/2 inch thick. Place the patties into the hot skillet, searing them for 3–4 minutes on each side until browned and cooked through.
- Once the patties are cooked, reduce the heat to low. In a separate bowl, whisk together 2 packets of brown gravy mix with 2 cups of hot water until smooth.
- Stir in 2 tablespoons of ketchup and another tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce into the gravy mixture. Pour this over the cooked patties, allowing it to simmer for 5–7 minutes until thickened.
- Serve the patties with gravy drizzled on top, and pair them with creamy mashed potatoes or your favorite veggies.
