Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 pound of lean ground beef, 1/2 cup of breadcrumbs, 2 tablespoons of ketchup, 1 teaspoon of mustard, and 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce. Add 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1 teaspoon of onion powder, and salt and pepper to taste. Mix well by hand until all ingredients are blended but do not overmix.
  2. Place a large skillet over medium heat and add 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Allow the oil to heat until shimmering.
  3. Shape the meat mixture into 4 equal patties, about 1/2 inch thick. Place the patties into the hot skillet, searing them for 3–4 minutes on each side until browned and cooked through.
  4. Once the patties are cooked, reduce the heat to low. In a separate bowl, whisk together 2 packets of brown gravy mix with 2 cups of hot water until smooth.
  5. Stir in 2 tablespoons of ketchup and another tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce into the gravy mixture. Pour this over the cooked patties, allowing it to simmer for 5–7 minutes until thickened.
  6. Serve the patties with gravy drizzled on top, and pair them with creamy mashed potatoes or your favorite veggies.
