  • 1 tsp Oil or Butter can replace with any neutral cooking oil
  • 2 cups Ketchup consider low-sugar varieties for less sweetness
  • ½ cup Honey maple syrup may work as an alternative
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce soy sauce can be a substitute
  • ½ tsp Hot Sauce adjust to taste or omit for a milder sauce
  • ½ tbsp Black Pepper, freshly ground fresh is best for seasoning
  • ¼ cup Dark Brown Sugar, packed light brown sugar can be used in its place
  • 2 tbsp Lemon Juice, fresh bottled lemon juice can be used but fresh is preferable
For the Chicken
  • 3 lbs Boneless Skinless Chicken Thighs can substitute with chicken breast but adjust cooking time
  • 3 tbsp Avocado Oil any neutral oil will suffice
  • 1 tsp Salt adjust according to taste
  • ½ tsp Garlic Powder for extra flavor, especially if fresh garlic is missing

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a small saucepan, heat oil or butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  2. Add ketchup, honey, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, black pepper, dark brown sugar, and lemon juice. Stir and bring to a simmer for 10-15 minutes.
  3. Rub chicken thighs with avocado oil and season with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
  4. Preheat your grill to high heat (400-450°F). Grill chicken thighs for 5-6 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  5. Brush the chicken with the BBQ sauce once they reach an internal temperature of 155°F. Continue grilling until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
  6. Remove chicken from grill, let it rest for a few minutes, then serve warm with extra BBQ sauce.
