Ingredients

For the Salmon Bites:
  • 1 ½ lb salmon skin removed and cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil divided
For the Honey Garlic Sauce:
  • 2 teaspoons garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger grated
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • ¼ cup honey
For Garnishing:
  • 2 teaspoons sesame seeds
  • 2 teaspoons chopped chives

Method

Prepare the Salmon:
  1. Pat dry the salmon cubes with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.
  2. Season the salmon with paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Pour 1 tablespoon of olive oil over the salmon cubes and gently massage to evenly coat the seasoning.
Cook the Salmon Bites:
  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a heavy skillet over medium heat.
  2. Place the salmon cubes in a single layer in the skillet, ensuring they’re not overcrowded.
  3. Cook for 4-5 minutes, flipping the cubes often, until they’re crispy and golden on all sides.
  4. Transfer the cooked salmon to a plate and repeat with the remaining cubes if needed.
Prepare the Honey Garlic Sauce:
  1. In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil.
  2. Sauté the minced garlic and grated ginger for 1 minute, or until fragrant.
  3. Stir in the soy sauce, rice vinegar, and honey. Let the sauce simmer for 3-5 minutes until it thickens slightly.
Combine and Serve:
  1. Return the crispy salmon bites to the skillet and toss them in the honey garlic glaze until evenly coated.
  2. Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning if needed.
  3. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped chives.
Enjoy:
  1. Serve the salmon bites immediately over rice, noodles, or alongside your favorite vegetables for a complete meal.

Notes

  • Salmon Selection: Use fresh salmon for the best flavor and texture. Frozen salmon works too, but make sure it’s completely thawed and patted dry before cooking.
  • Sauce Adjustments: If you prefer a sweeter glaze, add an extra tablespoon of honey. For more tang, increase the rice vinegar slightly.
  • Pan Tips: Avoid overcrowding the skillet to ensure the salmon cooks evenly and stays crispy. Cook in batches if necessary.
  • Storage: Leftover salmon bites can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. Reheat gently in a skillet or microwave.
  • Versatility: These salmon bites can also be served as a party appetizer on skewers, making them a hit at gatherings and celebrations.
