Ingredients

  • 1 pound large shrimp peeled and deveined
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon sweetened condensed milk
  • ½ cup cornstarch
  • 2 egg whites
  • ½ cup walnut halves
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • Oil for frying

Method

  1. In a small pan, combine walnuts, sugar, and water. Bring to a boil and cook for 2 minutes. Remove and dry on parchment.
  2. In a bowl, whisk mayonnaise, honey, and condensed milk. Set aside.
  3. Coat shrimp in egg whites, then dredge in cornstarch.
  4. Heat oil in a skillet and fry shrimp until golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
  5. Toss fried shrimp with the honey sauce.
  6. Serve topped with candied walnuts.

Notes

  • Use raw, not pre-cooked shrimp for best results.
  • Double the sauce if you like it extra creamy.
  • Can be served over jasmine rice or noodles.
  • For a lighter version, air fry the shrimp instead.
  • Store leftover candied walnuts for snacks or salads.
