  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, ½ teaspoon baking soda, and ½ teaspoon salt until well combined.
  3. In a separate large mixing bowl, cream together ½ cup softened butter, ½ cup granulated sugar, and ½ cup packed brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Mix in 1 large lightly beaten egg and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract into the butter-sugar mixture until combined.
  5. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  6. Scoop the dough into 2-3 tablespoon-sized balls and place them 2-3 inches apart on the lined baking sheet.
  7. Bake the cookies for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown and the centers are still soft.
  8. Press nine pastel milk chocolate M&Ms into the center of each warm cookie upon removing from the oven.
  9. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
