Ingredients

For the Octopus
  • 1 whole Fresh Octopus Cleaned for best texture and flavor
For the Marinade
  • 3 tablespoons Olive Oil High-quality extra virgin
  • 1 teaspoon Salt Essential for seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper Freshly cracked
  • 2 cloves Minced Garlic Optional, for added flavor
For Serving
  • 2 pieces Lemon Wedges For serving
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh Parsley Optional, for garnish

Equipment

  • Grill

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Begin by thoroughly cleaning the fresh octopus, ensuring it's free of any beak and ink sac. Rinse it under cold running water, then pat it dry using a clean kitchen towel.
  2. Rub the cleaned octopus generously with high-quality extra virgin olive oil, ensuring every nook and cranny is covered. Next, sprinkle a liberal amount of salt and freshly cracked black pepper all over the surface.
  3. Fire up your grill and preheat it to medium-high heat, reaching around 400°F (200°C).
  4. Once the grill is hot, carefully place the octopus on the grill grates. Grill one side for 4-5 minutes, watching for the edges to curl and grill marks to form.
  5. After the first side has developed those tantalizing grill marks, it’s time to flip the octopus. Grill the other side for an additional 4-5 minutes.
  6. Once grilled, remove the octopus from the grill and let it rest on a cutting board for about 2 minutes.
  7. Drizzle the grilled octopus with more olive oil for added richness. If desired, sprinkle minced garlic over the top for an extra layer of flavor.
  8. Serve your Juicy Grilled Octopus immediately, accompanied by fresh lemon wedges.

Notes

Make sure your grill is preheated to medium-high, around 400°F, to create beautiful grill marks without sticking. Allow the octopus to rest after grilling for optimal juiciness.
