Total Time 20 minutes
Servings: 12 -16 strawberries
Course: Dessert
Cuisine: American

Ingredients

For the Strawberries:
  • 1 pound fresh strawberries washed and dried thoroughly
  • ½ cup Nutella hazelnut spread
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil or vegetable oil optional, for smoother chocolate
Optional Toppings:
  • Crushed nuts like hazelnuts or almonds
  • Shredded coconut
  • Sprinkles
  • White chocolate drizzle

Method

Prepare the Strawberries:
  1. Wash the strawberries under cold water and pat them dry with a paper towel. Ensure they are completely dry to help the Nutella and chocolate adhere properly.
Warm the Nutella:
  1. Place the Nutella in a microwave-safe bowl and heat for 10-15 seconds to make it easier to spread.
Coat the Strawberries in Nutella:
  1. Hold a strawberry by the stem or insert a toothpick for easier handling.
  2. Dip each strawberry into the Nutella, swirling to coat evenly.
  3. Place the Nutella-coated strawberries on a parchment-lined tray.
Melt the Chocolate:
  1. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips and coconut oil (if using).
  2. Microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring after each, until the chocolate is fully melted and smooth.
Dip in Chocolate:
  1. Once the Nutella layer has set slightly, dip each strawberry into the melted chocolate. Allow any excess to drip off.
  2. Return the dipped strawberries to the tray.
Add Toppings:
  1. While the chocolate is still wet, sprinkle crushed nuts, shredded coconut, or sprinkles on top.
  2. Drizzle with melted white chocolate if desired.
Let Them Set:
  1. Allow the strawberries to sit at room temperature until the chocolate hardens. For quicker results, place them in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes.
Serve and Enjoy:
  1. Arrange the strawberries on a serving plate and enjoy immediately or store them for later.

Notes

  • Use Fresh Strawberries: Look for firm, ripe strawberries with bright green stems for the best flavor and presentation.
  • Work Quickly: Nutella and chocolate can harden as they cool, so it’s best to work efficiently.
  • Storage: Store the covered strawberries in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
  • Customize the Flavors: Experiment with different chocolates (dark, milk, or white) or Nutella alternatives for unique variations.
