Ingredients

For the Sliders
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted Butter Adds richness and moisture to the rolls; substitute with margarine if needed.
  • 1 medium Onion Provides sweetness and depth of flavor when caramelized; can swap with shallots for a milder taste.
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh Thyme Enhances the savory notes of the beef; use dried thyme at half the amount.
  • 1 teaspoon Kosher Salt Balances flavors; sea salt can serve as a substitute.
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper Adds warmth and spice; reduce for a milder flavor.
  • 12 rolls Sweet Rolls The base of the sliders, offering softness and sweetness; Hawaiian rolls are recommended for the best taste.
  • 10 slices Provolone Cheese Contributes melty texture and cheesy flavor; mozzarella or Swiss cheese can be used as alternatives.
  • 14 ounces Sliced Deli Roast Beef The main protein source with rich flavor; leftover roast or any cooked beef can be substituted.
  • 1/2 cup Melted Unsalted Butter Used to brush over the rolls for added richness and flavor.
  • 1.5 tablespoons Dried Onion Soup Mix Adds depth and savory notes; a homemade seasoning mix can be used as a replacement.
  • 1 packet Au Jus Gravy Mix Essential for the dipping sauce that enhances the dining experience; can be made from scratch using beef broth if preferred.
  • 3 cups Water Necessary for preparing the au jus.
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh Chopped Parsley Optional for garnish, adding a fresh touch to the sliders.

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter over medium heat, then add the sliced onion. Sauté for about 12–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden brown and caramelized.
  2. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare a baking dish for the sweet rolls.
  3. Slice the sweet rolls in half, keeping the tops and bottoms attached. Place the bottom halves in the baking dish.
  4. Layer half of the provolone cheese slices over the bottom halves, followed by the sliced roast beef and sautéed onions. Top with remaining cheese slices.
  5. Mix melted butter with dried onion soup mix and brush over the tops of the assembled sliders.
  6. Cover loosely with foil and bake for about 25 minutes, then remove foil and bake for an additional 5 minutes until tops are golden brown.
  7. Prepare the au jus by combining the gravy mix with 3 cups of water and heating until thickened.
  8. Remove sliders from the oven, garnish with parsley if desired, and serve warm with au jus for dipping.
