Step‑by‑Step Instructions

  2. Combine brown sugar, water, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and optional red pepper flakes in a medium bowl. Dredge thick-cut bacon strips in the mixture.
  3. Lay coated bacon strips on the wire rack and bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through until crispy and caramelized. Chop into bite-sized pieces once cooled.
  4. Slice the baguette into ½-inch pieces, brush with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Toast in the oven for 8-10 minutes until golden brown.
