Ingredients

  • 1 8-ounce package cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup diced cooked ham
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon hot sauce optional
  • 1 large round loaf of bread sourdough or similar
  • Crackers tortilla chips, or fresh vegetables for dipping

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, sour cream, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and hot sauce. Mix until smooth.
  3. Fold in the diced ham, ensuring it is evenly distributed throughout the mixture.
  4. Cut the top off the bread loaf and hollow out the center, leaving about an inch of bread around the edges. Save the removed bread pieces for dipping.
  5. Spoon the dip mixture into the hollowed-out bread bowl. Place the bread bowl on a baking sheet and cover it with the bread top to prevent drying out.
  6. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the dip is hot and bubbly.
  7. Remove from the oven and serve warm. Arrange bread chunks, crackers, or veggies around the bread bowl for dipping.

Notes

  • Make-Ahead Tip: Prepare the dip mixture a day in advance and store it in the refrigerator. Assemble and bake when ready to serve.
  • Leftovers: Store leftover dip in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven or microwave before serving.
  • Variations: Substitute the ham with crumbled bacon or shredded chicken for a delicious twist.
