Method

Step-by-Step Instructions for Spicy Drunken Shrimp
  1. Begin by peeling and deveining 1 pound of medium or large shrimp if not already done. In a mixing bowl, toss the shrimp with sweet paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.
  2. In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil and 2 tablespoons of butter over medium-high heat. Once the butter is melted and sizzling, carefully add the seasoned shrimp. Sear for about 1 minute on each side, until they turn pink and golden brown. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  3. Lower the heat to medium and add 6 minced garlic cloves and 1 diced shallot to the same skillet. Sauté for about 2 minutes until the garlic becomes fragrant and the shallots soften.
  4. Pour in 1/2 cup of vodka and sprinkle in 1/2 teaspoon of chili flakes. Allow to simmer for about 3 minutes while scraping the bottom of the skillet.
  5. Pour in 1 cup of fish broth and bring to a gentle boil over medium heat. Whisk in the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter until fully melted and the sauce becomes smooth.
  6. Return the seared shrimp to the skillet and heat for an additional minute. Just before serving, drizzle in 2 tablespoons of lemon juice and sprinkle with 2 tablespoons of chopped fresh parsley.
