Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger grated
  • 1 small onion finely chopped
  • ¼ cup hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sriracha optional
  • 1 can water chestnuts drained and chopped
  • 2 green onions sliced
  • 1 head butter or romaine lettuce

Method
 

  1. In a large skillet, heat sesame oil over medium heat.
  2. Add ground beef, garlic, ginger, and onion. Cook until beef is browned.
  3. Stir in hoisin sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sriracha.
  4. Add chopped water chestnuts and cook for 2 more minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and mix in green onions.
  6. Spoon beef mixture into lettuce leaves and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, top with chopped peanuts or sesame seeds.
  • Try ground turkey or chicken as a variation.
  • Serve with rice or noodles for a more filling meal.
  • Lettuce wraps are best assembled just before eating.
  • Leftover filling can be stored for 3 days in the fridge.
