  • 1/4 cup Ketchup BBQ sauce can offer a different flavor profile.
  • 2 tablespoons Sweet Pickle Relish Chopped dill pickles work as a substitute.
  • 1 tablespoon Yellow Mustard Dijon mustard can be swapped for a sharper taste.
  • 1 teaspoon Hot Sauce Adjust or omit based on your preference.
For the Tacos
  • 1 pound Ground Beef Opt for ground turkey or a meat alternative for lighter options.
  • 8 pieces Flour Tortillas Corn tortillas can substitute for gluten-free needs.
  • 2 tablespoons Burger Seasoning Use taco seasoning or your favorite spice blend.
  • 1 teaspoon Kosher Salt Sea salt is a fine substitute.
  • 1 tablespoon Neutral Oil Canola or vegetable oil works best.
For Toppings
  • 4 slices American Cheese Cheddar or pepper jack can offer a different flavor twist.
  • 1/2 cup Bread-and-Butter Pickles Regular dill pickles give less sweetness.
  • 2 cups Shredded Iceberg Lettuce Romaine or cabbage can offer a similar texture.
  • 1 cup Chopped Yellow Onion Red onion can provide a sharper taste.
  • 1 tablespoon White Sesame Seeds Omit or replace with black sesame seeds for contrast.

Equipment

  • Skillet
  • Medium bowl

Method

Burger Sauce Preparation
  1. In a medium bowl, combine mayonnaise, ketchup, sweet pickle relish, yellow mustard, and hot sauce. Mix thoroughly until smooth, then set aside.
Cook Beef Patties
  1. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat with 1 tablespoon of neutral oil. Form ground beef into small patties, season with burger seasoning and salt, and cook in the skillet until browned and fully cooked.
Toast Tortillas
  1. Remove patties from the skillet, add more oil if needed, and lower the heat. Toast flour tortillas in the skillet until lightly golden and warm.
Assemble Tacos
  1. Place a cooked beef patty on each toasted tortilla. Top with American cheese, bread-and-butter pickles, shredded lettuce, and chopped onion. Drizzle with burger sauce.
Serve
  1. Garnish tacos with sesame seeds and serve immediately while warm.
