Ingredients
  

  • 1 ½ lbs ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 medium onion sliced
  • 1 cup mushrooms sliced
  • 1 can 10.5 oz cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup beef broth

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Mix beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire, salt, and pepper. Form into 4 patties.
  3. Brown patties in oil on both sides, then place in a baking dish.
  4. Sauté onions and mushrooms until tender. Stir in soup and broth.
  5. Pour over patties and bake for 25–30 minutes.
  6. Serve with mashed potatoes or rice.

Notes

  • Add garlic or thyme to the gravy for more depth.
  • Freezes well—cool completely before storing.
