Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. Peel the sweet potatoes and slice them thinly, about ⅛ inch thick.
  3. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and whisk in the brown sugar, heavy cream, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until smooth, about 3-5 minutes.
  4. Pour the sauce evenly over the layered sweet potatoes.
  5. Cover with foil and bake for 35 minutes.
  6. Remove the foil and bake uncovered for an additional 20-25 minutes until golden brown and fork-tender.
  7. Optionally sprinkle mini marshmallows on top during the last 5 minutes of baking.
  8. Allow it to cool for a few minutes before serving and garnish with crushed candied pecans if desired.
