  • 1 cup Orange Juice Fresh or bottled
  • 1/4 cup Lime Juice
  • 4 cloves Minced Garlic Fresh preferred
  • 1 large Chopped Onion Yellow onions work best
  • 1 tablespoon Cumin
  • 1 tablespoon Oregano Mexican oregano recommended
  • 1 tablespoon Chili Powder Adjust to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Salt To taste
  • 1 teaspoon Pepper To taste
  • 2 pieces Bay Leaves Remove before serving

Step-by-Step Instructions for Carnitas Crockpot
  1. Trim excess fat from the pork shoulder and cut it into large chunks, approximately 2-3 inches.
  2. Place the pork chunks in your slow cooker and add orange juice, lime juice, minced garlic, chopped onion, cumin, oregano, chili powder, salt, pepper, and bay leaves.
  3. Cover and slow cook on low for 8 hours or high for 4-5 hours until the pork is tender.
  4. Remove the pork and shred with two forks, discarding any fat.
  5. Spread shredded pork on a baking sheet and broil for 5-8 minutes until edges are crispy.
  6. Drizzle with reserved cooking liquid before serving.
